Where to get a pumpkin spice latte in Saigon
You can get a pumpkin spice latte in Saigon at both Dulce de Saigon shops, Bàn Cờ and Thảo Điền, every day from 08:00 to 21:00. Ours is an espresso latte made with our house pumpkin puree, cinnamon, star anise and clove. Hot or iced, it is 80.000 ₫ in-store.
What is in our pumpkin spice latte?
An espresso latte with the house pumpkin puree, cinnamon, star anise and clove. The pumpkin is Vietnamese pumpkin, bí đỏ, roasted in our Bàn Cờ kitchen and blended smooth. It is not a canned puree and it is not a syrup. The whole story is in from Vietnamese pumpkin to our puree.
We keep the recipe to ourselves, the same way we do for the puree.
Star anise is the spice that surprises people. In Vietnamese it is hoa hồi, and many people know it from a bowl of phở. Here it sits beside cinnamon and clove in a latte.
What is a pumpkin spice latte?
A pumpkin spice latte, or PSL, is an espresso latte flavoured with pumpkin and the warm spices of pumpkin pie. Cinnamon, clove, nutmeg and ginger are the usual ones. Ours uses cinnamon, star anise and clove, with real pumpkin puree in the cup.
If you have seen PSL on a feed, this is the same drink.
If you grew up on PSLs, the idea is the one you know: pumpkin, warm spice, espresso and milk. What changes is the pumpkin, which we roast here before it becomes puree, and the star anise.
Is a latte bí đỏ the same thing?
Latte bí đỏ is pumpkin latte in Vietnamese. On our menu it is called the Pumpkin Spice Latte, and that is the cup to ask for.
Hot or iced, and how much is it?
Both. Hot or iced, the Pumpkin Spice Latte is 80.000 ₫ in-store. Grab and ShopeeFood show their own prices. Every cup is made to order at the bar, so you can say hot or iced when you walk up.
Fall does not arrive in Saigon as weather. It is still warm out, which is why we make the drink hot or iced and leave the choice to you.
It is on the fall menu until 26 November.

What if you want something other than pumpkin?
The Butterscotch Pecan Latte is the other fall latte: a smooth latte with butterscotch and pecan, also 80.000 ₫. If you want no coffee, the Spiced Apple Cider (pressed apple juice, brown sugar and cinnamon under a light whipped cream) and the Honey Berry Buzz (a sweet-tart blackberry soda with honey) are 70.000 ₫ each.
What goes well with it?
A slice. The Pumpkin Spice Cake is 95.000 ₫ and the Pumpkin Cheesecake is 110.000 ₫, and both start from the same puree as the latte. The Pumpkin Pie Bar, at 85.000 ₫, is the smaller sweet.
If you would rather have fruit than pumpkin on the plate, the Apple Pie is 120.000 ₫ a slice, a stacked apple pie in an all-butter crust. Dulce’s Apple Duo, an Apple Pie slice with a Spiced Apple Cider, is 180.000 ₫.
