OUR BREAD

Tiger Bread (Bánh Mi Da Beo)
The texture you know, built for what we do.
Tiger bread has that crackling rice-flour crust Vietnamese customers recognize — the satisfying crunch that shatters when you bite. But unlike a traditional bánh mì baguette, the interior is thicker and softer.
Why does this matter? Our sandwiches aren’t light Vietnamese bánh mì — we’re grilling them with thick-cut imported cheeses, substantial meats, and real sauces. A thin baguette would tear or turn soggy. Tiger bread gives you the vỏ giòn, ruột mềm (crisp crust, soft crumb) texture you want, with the structure to handle serious fillings.
We bake it fresh in-house. International customers might know it as Dutch Crunch.

Focaccia
Focaccia is the other house bread: an olive-oil dough, pressed and dimpled, baked until the edges crisp in the pan. It is the softer, richer route for the same fillings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Can I buy tiger bread without ordering a sandwich?
Yes. Message us directly and our staff can prepare tiger bread for you to pick up.
What is bánh mì da beo (tiger bread)?
Tiger bread goes by Dutch Crunch in San Francisco and tijgerbrood in the Netherlands. A rice-flour topping is brushed over the dough before it goes into the oven; as the loaf rises, the topping cracks into the mottled pattern that gives the bread its name. It bakes into a thin, toasty shell with a lightly savory note and a soft interior, a texture a plain roll cannot reach. At SANDWICH by Dulce it is baked fresh through the day in Bàn Cờ, Saigon.
When is fresh bread available?
Tiger bread and focaccia are baked fresh. Available every day, 9AM-8PM.
Can I customize my sandwich?
Yes. All sandwiches can be customized with vegetables and sauces. We also have a build your own menu where you can select your bread, protein, and toppings.
Do you have vegetarian options?
Yes. Deviled Egg and Caprese are fully vegetarian. Other sandwiches can be modified.
What's the difference between cold and hot pressed sandwiches?
Cold sandwiches are served as-is on soft bread. Hot pressed sandwiches (like Ham Jammer and Chipotle Chick) are grilled until the focaccia is golden and crunchy outside, tender inside.
Where are your ingredients from?
We use European imported meats and cheeses, cut fresh in-house. No pre-sliced ingredients.
When are you open?
Every day, 9AM-8PM.
